GEOFF BOGAR AND HIS FAMILY NEED YOUR HELP!
Our beloved instructor Geoff Bogar and his wife Shannon Weber-Bogar have lost their home, their dog, their best friend, their vehicles and all worldly possessions as a result of the horrific fire in Goeff’s hometown of Lahaina, HI. Geoff was treated at a burn unit on O’ahu for severe burns that he sustained to his arms, hands as well as burns to his face during his escape from the fire.
Geoff’s involvement in Peak Rescue began 20 years ago. He is an integral part of the Peak family and our goal is to provide him with as much support as possible during this incredibly difficult time.
If you want to donate to Geoff and his family in order to help with immediate and upcoming expenses, please do one of the following:
Write a check to Peak Rescue Institute with “Bogar Family Fund” in the note line and send it to:
Peak Rescue Institute
4721 Muir Ave
San Diego CA 92107
OR
Go to https://donorbox.org/support-peak-rescue-1
Check the box that says “Write us a comment” and put “Bogar Family Fund” in the comment field.
All of your donations will be tax deductible and Geoff’s family will get 100% of the amount of your donation.
Because Peak Rescue Institute is a private foundation, there is a cap on the deductibility of donations for some taxpayers, based on Adjusted Gross Income. Almost all donors are not affected by this cap.
You should check with your tax advisor to see if the deduction, associated with the size of your donation and your Adjusted Gross Income, is capped at 30%. If not, then 100% of your donation is tax deductible.

A New Direction
We would like you all to know that after 20 great years Peak Rescue Institute is headed in an exciting, new direction. One that will change how we operate as well as our relationship to our students. The Autumn of 2019 marked the last Technician and Specialist Courses that we will be teaching in Joshua Tree National Park.
Our focus has shifted from teaching rescuers the art and science of rope rescue to teaching instructors the art and science of teaching rope rescue. We are now dedicating our efforts to training trainers and teaching teachers.
We are also teaching Team Skills courses and topic-specific Specialty courses as part of our overall scope. These courses are held in conjunction with our Train-the-Trainer (TTT) courses. Students taking one of our Team Skills or Specialty courses will be training in those skills under the guidance of Senior Instructors, while our instructor trainees hone their craft. It is an environment where learning is happening at multiple levels.
These courses will be located in a variety of locations. Please check back for upcoming course listings.
As we offer our TTT/Instructor courses and the associated Team Skills courses, we will post the prerequisites for both. Please pay close attention to see what suits your needs and skill set.
Scholarships will still be offered as appropriate.
We thank all of the individuals and teams that have worked with us over the years and invite you all to come along with us on this next part of the adventure.
