Who we are

Peak Rescue is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.

Our Team

Picture

Born out of a decade of teaching together for another organization, Peak Rescue Institute was formed in 2002 by a group of individuals who have worked and played together for many years. In fact, much of the organizational beginnings of Peak Rescue came to life in a backcountry ski hut in the Colorado Rockies.

We come from a variety of professional backgrounds with a broad range of experience relevant to the technical rescue field. Many of our instructors are professional firefighters. Several have careers in the lifeguard service. As a group, we have over 600 years of experience in technical rescue.

Student & Instructor Interaction

All Volunteers

Picture

As a group, we share a common love for helping others and for teaching. Being around students and a love of watching them learn technical rescue is a big part of what drives us. While most of our students have some background in technical rescue, our 4:1 student to instructor ratio typically allows novice students to successfully complete the Technician course.

Peak Rescue is a non-profit, all volunteer organization. Because we are not motivated by profit, we are able to maintain, at the minimum, a 4:1 student to instructor ratio. Being non-profit also allows us to keep our course fees as low as possible.

Comfort Zone

Cost-Effective

Picture

For many students just starting out in technical rescue, this training takes them out of their comfort zone, and we strive to provide our instruction in a way that will be challenging but not overwhelming. Our low student to instructor ratio allows for much more personal instruction than is possible with other courses.
Picture
We recognize the cost of rescue training both for the individual and organizations. Students can anticipate 12-14 hours of mostly hands-on training each day. Our course fees are not only competitive by industry standards, but we also include a full meal plan and all camping fees. This helps make our courses an excellent value.

Real Rescue Missions

Picture
Our instructors are all rescue technicians with their home agencies so we are well connected with the active rescue community. We understand what teams are doing in the field and tailor our training to meet those needs.
